ABOUT THE PROJECT
WGA is currently providing civil engineering design and construction administration for the Phase II Vacuum Sewer Extension to serve Caney Creek Haven and Live Oak Bend Sections 1 through 4. The service area lies generally along the meandering banks of Caney Creek just downstream of Chambliss Road.
In order to meet the stipulations for public funding, WGA coordinated with the Texas Water Development Board to ensure meeting all necessary requirements. This project required extensive coordination with the TWDB as well as other local governmental agencies to ensure that the service areas were served by the minimum requirements set out by the TCEQ. WGA designed the site civil infrastructure, vacuum collection mains, valve pits, private gravity collection lines, Vacuum Station #3, lift station to serve Vacuum Station #3, and force main to transfer effluent to the wastewater treatment plant. Site challenges included designing the collection system with shallow ground water levels as well as working to obtain timely jurisdictional approvals from Caney Creek, Matagorda County, Texas Water Development Board, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
WGA continues to serve as the MUD engineer for Caney Creek Municipal Utility District as it improves its water and wastewater systems.
